Mindful Monday 2.0

Good morning all you wonderful magical folks!

First of all, if I’m going to make this a post that I put up every week and I’m going to keep calling it “Mindful Monday” then what do I do with the post titles to differentiate between weeks? Do I just keep going with the numbers, which means I would have to create a system of some sort to keep them straight… or I could do “Mindful Monday: <insert some kind of descriptive word that gives us all some idea of what’s going on>? But then, do I describe the past week, or the upcoming week? Too many options. If you have an idea, let me know. Maybe we’ll all get something figured out between now and next Monday!

Now… on to the actual content!

What did I learn this past week?

I learned, not for the first time, that it is WAY too easy for me to get out of a routine. I’m okay as long as things stay the same. If I can get up at the same time every day and my schedule doesn’t change too much in the way of errands or things like that, then I’m okay. But with the holiday weekend, my other half being off work, and spending so much time with family, this past week was all over the place. The same thing tends to happen on the weekends but not to the same extent. I’m not sure how exactly to fix it so that I still get my stuff done, but I’ll figure something out eventually. For now, as long as it’s not a holiday, I’m okay with not being quite as productive on the weekends.

What were my highlights from the past week?

Thanksgiving, obviously. We spent time with both of our families as well as my best friend’s family, and then we still got to spend a day at home doing nothing. All of it was quite lovely.

We went shopping and got a tree and decorations, AND got them all put up. This is our first married Christmas and we’re trying to enjoy all the little things. We’re also working on figuring out what we want our holiday traditions to be so that we’ve gotten a few of those put in place before we start a family. I love the holidays and it’s been fun to do these things together.

I finally spent some time with my horse! I’m not going to ramble on about her here, but if I do what I’m planning and actually start riding on a regular basis, then I might start up my equestrian side blog again so that I can keep track of that hobby.

What am I reading/watching?

Honestly, I’ve been so caught up in working on my Nanowrimo project that I have done very little reading or watching at all this past week. And this week will probably be similar, since it’s the last few days of November.

We did watch a few Christmas movies, and quite a few reruns of Friends throughout the week. I’ll never get tired of Friends!

Once Nano is over, I’ll probably get back to reading again and also try to catch up on my favorite shows.

How did I do with last week’s goals?

  • reach 38,000 words on my Nanowrimo project. Not quite. I’m writing like a madman today, so I hope to catch up very soon!
  • spend some more time with my horse – I plan to get out to the farm at least twice.  DONE!
  • continue working through the online course that I mentioned earlier. DONE!
  • get a good start on buying Christmas presents. Sort of done? I got started at least.
  • catch up on keeping track of finances. Yep, DONE.
  • start making some reasonable writing goals. I thought about it, so I’ll count that.
  • enjoy Thanksgiving with my family. DONE, and HAPPY!

The doctor’s appointment went well and all my preliminary stuff looked good, so I’m just waiting to get the final results. They’re supposed to call me sometime this week.

We ended up skipping the social dance because both of us weren’t feeling particularly great that evening. Next month!

New Goals for the Coming Week!

It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.

  • Win NaNoWriMo
  • Do more research for the projects that I plan to work on next year
  • Christmas shopping
  • Be more careful about how I spend money – I’ve been too lax lately
  • Start a diet to help my stomach problems
  • Visit my horse twice
  • Keep up with the meditation habit
  • Finish decorating the house for Christmas

What are your goals and plans for the upcoming week?

Also, what is your favorite Christmas movie? I want to see them ALL!

Love and kindness,

Goals and plans: celebrate hubby’s birthday and meet our new child, who is now in the 41st week of gestation! I have no clue if I’ll get a blog post up. Depends on baby. Ack!

Favorite Christmas movie: I don’t think I have one… But probably one I want to see the most is Die Hard. Lololol. Les Miserables came out over Christmas weekend, too, and I love that one! Lol. You know me… Not big on Christmas… But Ma will be watching the Hallmark Christmas stuff before long and I’ll be over there once a week or so watching that. Haha.
