Mindful Monday: Goals

Hello my lovely beautiful people!

Today is not only the last Monday of 2018, it’s also the last DAY of 2018. I’m not sure how I’m feeling about that, but I’m sure we’ll figure it out as the day goes by. I usually get a bit anxious and also rather giddy over the end of the year/beginning of another, and this year is no different. 2018 was a fabulous year for a lot of reasons, which I detailed here and here. 2019 is going to be even more amazing, at least if I have any say about it! But first, I’ll need to get to feeling better, since somehow I managed to get a bad cold over the last few days.

This Monday, instead of doing a weekly recap thingy, I’m going to just cover a few things on my list of goals for 2019. Next Monday we’ll go back to regularly scheduled programming of talking about the past and upcoming week.

Two Thousand Nineteen

My goals for the entire year are listed out on this new page which you can find by going through my also newly revamped Current Projects area. I plan to keep track of things throughout the year, both because some of you that read this blog are actually interested in my extremely basic life, but also because of the accountability it gives me to have a online place with my goals displayed.

My writing and blogging goals are pretty major this year. I’m actually looking at working from home, using my writing skills, in the eventual future, so I plan to really focus on that big future goal all of this year. I already have a reasonably consistent writing habit which I want to really solidify, while also working my skills and stretching my comfort zone some more. I’m hoping planning that this is the year that I really stay on top of my blogging habit as well. Of course, I intend to participate in Nanowrimo again in 2019, but even bigger than that is the fact that I’ve pulled out an older project (currently entitled: Donovan’s Quest) and I’m aiming to publish it, probably in 2020. In order to do that, of course, I’ll need to put quite a bit of work into it between now and then.

Then there are the life goals, the ones that involve co-decision-making with The Husband or at least he has to be somewhat informed of or involved in them. One of the biggest ones is hopefully buying our own home! There’s also a few financial ones, including reaching a certain amount in our savings account and also paying off my student loans – finally!

We plan to travel a little, hopefully a longer trip out of country sometime in the spring and then a weekend trip during the summer.

I’m going to do a monthly update on the first of every month, so tomorrow I’ll put up some of my January goals for accountability. Check back for those!

Before I sign off for the year though, I wanted to ramble for a few sentences about how much backlash I get sometimes, just because of how many goals I set for myself. And yes, I do understand that in a way, I’m putting a lot of pressure on myself, which isn’t always the best help for anxiety. But I also get very restless without a plan of attack for self improvement. I always feel the need to be working on something, so I have to plan it out. That’s just the way I work, so I tend to make a lot of goals. I have to plan. So, regardless of the previously mentioned backlash and how much it irritates me, I like the way I plan things out and I’ll keep doing it that way until it doesn’t work anymore.

Best wishes for the new year!

Love and kindness,
