Mindful Monday: Rise Above

Happy Monday, beautiful people in the world! (And aliens too, if you’re reading.)

My weekend was actually quite good, if a bit tiring. I had an odd schedule, being off work Friday, but not Saturday, so by Sunday evening I really felt like I wanted an extra day to really relax. But we had a wonderful, fun time with family and friends, went to a private screening event for one of my hubby’s short film projects, and just enjoyed celebrating Easter!


Last week was a bit up and down but really quite good overall. I got more emotional and tired as the week went on, but still I would classify it as one of my better weeks recently. I did get a good chunk of writing done on my Nano project, although I’m still not quite where I want to be. This week is for playing catch up, since it’s the last full week of the month! Seriously, where did April go?!

We had our midwife appointment on Friday, and were able to find out what we’re having (spoiler: it’s a human baby, as of right now!) so we are very very very excited about that! Hopefully I’ll write about that sometime soon. We’ll just have to wait and see! I also did some research, we figured out vacation plans, and I (mostly) succeeded in cooking dinner without having to shop for anything extra.

My other big achievement was having the energy on Friday to get the house cleaned, catch up on the laundry, and even buy some new clothes to help me dress this growing baby bump a little better!

This Week…
  • Final vacation reservations – it’s next week!!
  • Write DAILY on my Nano project.
  • Drink. More. Water.
  • Sort through all my clothes, both for summer and pregnancy purposes.
  • Make sure my desk at work is clean before I take off for two weeks.

What I’m Reading…

I enjoyed this article by Joshua Becker, which was a great reminder to always keep moving forward, no matter what the past looks like. He is a great author who generally tends to have very good life advice, even if you’re not a huge fan of the minimalist trend.

Mother’s Niche had this awesome blog post last week about nine different meals that are perfect for leftovers, and I have to say, I would have never thought about some of them. Since both me and the hubby often pack our lunches for work, leftovers are fantastic to have.

And this slideshow on MSN highlights the many awesome movies that are coming out this summer. I know I’ll be hitting up the local theater for a lot of them. Which one are you most excited about?

What I’m Recommending…

Even though it’s not new, I’m still totally in love with the original album “We Came Here to Love” by French tenor Sebastien Izambard. He just combined so many of the things I love from classical music with some of the best aspects of modern pop. It’s my go-to album to play in the mornings while I get ready for work – upbeat, bright, and just plain fun!

Yeah, it’s incredibly cliché, but I’m still recommending my own blog post about the physical symptoms of depression. It doesn’t get recognized or talked about enough, and the more we can share on the subject, the better!

And lastly, this recipe for a snack that tastes amazing and is so incredibly healthy too. I need as many ways to sneak extra protein into my day, so these have been a lifesaver for me! Plus they taste way better than you think they would!
