Mindful Monday: Lyrical

Hello beautiful wonderful people!

It’s time for another one of our Mindful Monday posts – a roundup of things I’m currently into, some current goals, and some mini updates on my personal life.

I’m definitely still dealing with pregnancy-induced emotional drama, but other than a bit of morning nausea (again…yay) things have been going really well lately. It might be getting pretty hot outside, but I’m still glad that summer is finally rolling in, even if it’s been bringing a lot of thunderstorms along with it!

Since Last Time…

I did wait a bit longer to go to the chiropractor than I usually do and I definitely regretted it after a few extremely uncomfortable nights. It’s also rained every time I’ve wanted to get out into the horse pasture, which is annoying.

But I have been able to get a fair amount of writing done! I’m not entirely settled on a project for Camp Nanowrimo next month, but I think I’ve narrowed it down to two different options. We’ll just have to see which one starts to appeal to me more in the next week or so. And those writing/blogging plans that I was hinting at last time? Those are getting closer and closer to seeing the light of day. I’m working really hard behind the scenes!

Last year my husband directed a short film with a group of friends and we found out recently that the film was accepted into the Fort Worth Indie Film Festival! Obviously, we are super stoked and can’t wait to attend the festival in July and see how the project does. That and the fact that I’m now a week away from being officially in my third trimester, and things are just moving right along with life at the moment!

Coming Up Next…

  • Obviously, I’m planning and prepping for Camp Nanowrimo in July!
  • Cook at home at least 3-4 nights a week.
  • Start walking and doing some stretches regularly again.
  • Keep up with my journaling.
  • Maybe catch up completely on laundry for once?

What I’m Reading…

What random online article caught my interest?

Browsing around online over the weekend, I found this slideshow on MSN about an abandoned island in New York. I’ve always found places like that fascinating – the old forgotten run-down spots. It’s amazing how there are too – so eerie and creepy and sad.

What blog post caught my eye?

I know I share blog posts from Joshua Becker/Becoming Minimalist fairly often, but he wrote another really great one last week, this time about the lure of plastic toys. Again, I’m not a minimalist by any stretch of the word, but I do tend to think logically. And I have seeing more and more how wasteful our culture tends to be. A lot of the time, and particularly in the case of children’s toys, less is almost certainly more.

What book am I currently reading?

I’ve been slowly working my way through the book Hypnobirthing, by Marie Mongan and it’s been really enlightening. I’m not 100% sold on the whole idea, but since I am definitely planning to create a calm and relaxing childbirth atmosphere, having some of these ideas in my head is a big help. So far, I would definitely recommend reading it, but we’ll see how things go!

What I’m Thinking About…

What issue has been preoccupying my thoughts?

I’ve been thinking a lot about the effects and consequences of running a personal business on the side. My husband directs/produces commercials and short films and has been making some money from that for several years now, plus I’ve been looking at freelance writing for a while now, so sorting out the behind-the-scenes issues for things like that has definitely been taking up some room in my head lately!

What’s coming up soon for my online platform?

I’m hoping that I can start to get more active on social media very soon. It’s always been kind of a chore for me since I don’t tend to post a lot anyways. But its kind of important to running a page and a website so I want to try and get more consistent with it.

What do I really want to buy right now?

I know this is a pregnancy thing for sure, but I am all about comfy pants right now. The ones with the super wide, loose elastic or drawstring waistbands are awesome. I found a pair of linen pants at Old Navy a while back that fit the bill and I can even wear them to work. I need like ten of them because while dresses are fabulous for easy bump-friendly outfits, I miss wearing pants sometimes.

What thing in the future am I pre-planning in my head?

I have a huge tendency to plan things way in advance, well before I really should. And since we have several out-of-town weekends coming up this summer, I keep trying to plan everything out in my head. And then there’s this baby coming that I need to plan and prepare for, but I think I’m still in panic mode on that subject. We’ll have to come back to it at another time!

Now it’s your turn! How are things going in your life?? Let me know!

Sending you love and kindness!
