Finding New Footing

Hello beautiful readers!

I hope 2021 is treating all of you lovely people well, despite all the chaos of the real world. I hope you’re able to take time for your own needs and self care and that you have people in your life who are supporting and loving you through everything that’s been happening. If you have the mental and emotional capacity, hopefully you’re able to check in with and be a support person for someone else.

The most concise recap I can give of the time since my last post in October is that I did in fact begin hibernating. The longer version is much more nuanced.

I hunkered down and participated in Nanowrimo, and actually won, with a novel-length ramble of a story that will likely never see the light of day. I made the decision to remove Facebook from my phone the day before the election and have had absolutely zero interest in going back to it. Best decision I ever made.

The holidays felt much closer to home this year because of the pandemic and I was 100% okay with that. Hubby and I actually contracted COVID just a few days before Christmas, and it took until last week for both of us to finally start feeling normal again. It was not a fun experience by any means and one I would not wish on anyone. That is also why I didn’t start back up with the blogging around New Years like I originally planned to.

The parenting gig has been very up and down, as per usual. The Tiny Princess is very opinionated and adorable as always. She has become a pro at walking, she gives hugs, and her sign language as well as her general understanding of English has gotten so much better.

Last week, we finally lost one of my precious fur babies. He had been sick for a long time but his disease finally progressed to the point that we knew it was time. Today marks a week since we made that decision so it’s hitting a little harder than it was, but grief is a process and it’s going to be a while before me and my other kitty have really adjusted to the new normal.

For the moment, between the Princess, a new school term, and a new work project, I’m staying uber busy, but it’s been fun. I’d say this week has gone great, even if I’m only saying that because I somehow managed to sweep and vacuum the floors four out of five days this week. That’s a win in my book!

Even though January is half over, I still wanted to talk a teeny bit about the plans I’ve been laying out for this year. They’re all pandemic-friendly plans and I’m excited about the progress they’ll help make towards our bigger life goals. No, we’re not having another kid this year, before any of my regular readers even think that. LOL

But I’m going to get to that next week because yeah, I’m actually back on the writing train. It’s a fun ride, y’all, don’t you think?

All the love and socially distanced hugs from me and mine to you and yours. Happy belated Holidays and I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Spread the kindness.
