July Thoughts

Hello lovelies,

I haven’t written much lately, mainly because I’ve been drowning a bit in writing-intensive classes and I’m still finding my balance between work and fun writing time. But I wanted to hop online this week so that at least I don’t let the month go by without posting something. This might be a bit disconnected, but that’s kind of the way my brain is working right now, so that’s what you get.

Back in May, I mentioned that I was planning to start an email newsletter. That is still in the works, but between moving house and then classes ramping up in intensity, I lost momentum and haven’t been able to finish what was needed to make that happen. My new plan is to have things moving again sometime in August, just in time for this website’s three year anniversary!

Even though it’s been almost two months since we moved into our new house, I’m still getting the last stacks of boxes unpacked and decorating, etc. My most recent focus has been The Tiny Princess’ rooms, so hopefully I can show a few pictures here soon. It all turned out so flipping adorable that I can’t wait to share all the work I’ve been putting in. Less exciting to share is the fact that I’m learning how to deal with plumbing and hedges? I’m learning things but not all of them are what I expected. I’m hoping to get a lot more done in August, so maybe I’ll finally get to share some of my favorite things around the new place.

Speaking of the Tiny Princess, it’s been such a fun ride with her lately as we get closer to the 2 year old stage. She does things solely on her own terms, especially when it comes to talking. She refuses to say any of the names of different colors, but is perfectly capable of matching them up and she will randomly pop up and ask for something by name, sort of like the kids you hear about that are silent until they finally just start talking in full sentences. She’s not on that level, but it reminds me of that. Kids are weird, that’s all I have to say on that.

And when it comes to my own school progress, graduation is looming closer than ever. I’m scheduled to finish out my last term at the end of October, which means the time for resumes and job applications is getting close. I’m also feeling the pressure to start the renovation of our backyard shed into an office space. The writing projects are getting more and more intense and the expectations are higher than ever. Getting my Masters is still a future goal, but some days I look at what I’m doing and wonder if I’d actually make it through a graduate program in this field. Intimidating, to say the least.

Otherwise, I’m still using therapy to get through my weeks, trying to embrace my inner child so I can play more genuinely with the toddler, and checking things off a never ending to-do list.

How are you doing?

Love and light,

Happy Full Moon!
