Planning to Write

Hello beautiful darling readers!

So tomorrow is the first day of spring and I am so happy!! As much as I have aspects of winter that I really and truly love, the beginning of spring is the time of year when I can feel all my seasonal depression fade away for a while. And it is a wonderful feeling!

I realized over the weekend that April is a whole lot closer than I thought it was. Whoops. And the thing about April is that’s when the first session of Camp NaNoWriMo starts.

As of this moment right now, I have no idea what I want to work on. I don’t know what my word count goal is going to be, what my genre might be, whether I want to work on a previously unfinished project or start something new, or even whether I might want to do a series of projects. Basically, I’m planning to participate, but beyond that I have nothing. Zilch.

That’s not encouraging at all. I have 12ish days to get at least the basics figured out.

What I would like to know…
  • A chosen project, no matter how bare boned it seems.
  • A starting point and a few helpful prompts to keep me going.
  • A word count goal that doesn’t seem overwhelming.
  • A small collection of photos, videos, and music that make me feel inspired and connected to said project.

And… yeah, that’s about it, really.

I’m considering finishing up a novel-length project that I’ve been working on for a few years now. There’s enough left to do on it that I would have a fairly reasonable amount of work set out for me every day.

If I go with that project, I already have a good outline that details where I need to add things, what needs to be finished, etc. I have the starting point and a nice long list of ideas, plans for the story, and character notes.

Again, assuming I pick up the novel, I’m thinking possibly of writing 30,000 words in April. That would put the entire project right at 60+ thousand words, which is not a bad place to be at with a first draft, in my opinion.

Everything else is just a matter of thought and research, I think. I just need to put some time in to make it all happen. Which should also be more than likely to happen in the next week sometime!

Anyone else planning to write in April?! 🙂

Love and happy spring-filled kindness!
